When I arrived by the free airport shuttle provided, I was blown away by the beauty of the grounds. The winding brick paths, the flowering trees and bushes, the beautiful pool area, were all so pleasing. And the butterflies! And the birds! As the week progressed, I appreciated the attention given to participants' comfort and needs. We received our own water bottle, tote bag, and were offered a free massage and two colon cleanses. Everything smelled fresh and clean. There were big bottles of shampoo and conditioner, shower gel, lotion and hand soap in the bathroom. Plenty of towels. The salt water pool was heavenly, especially the day after a ceremony. And the food! Healthy and delicious with lots of fresh fruit and vegetables. Most of the staff knew my name within two days. They were always smiling and helpful and seemed to be genuinely happy to work at Rythmia. Support for experiences during the ceremonies was always available and the staff was well-trained to listen and help. Obviously, people doing ayahuasca need to feel safe and cared-for. The ceremony staff was always circulating and watching for anyone having problems. My one complaint is that the items in the gift shop were extremely expensive. People on retreat like to get something as a reminder to take home with them. I am still in shock that I spent $80 on a t-shirt. The book I wanted, that would have cost $15 in the U.S., cost $30 at Rythmia. The manager explained that taxes in Costa Rica knocked prices up high, and that many items were made by indigenous folks who benefitted from the sales. Perhaps the store could stock some less costly items that are still special and attractive. My experience with the medicine was unquestionably life-changing. I released decades of grief and pain that were stored within me. I would recommend Rythmia to anyone wanting to transform and expand all aspects of their life.
